One of my biggest frustrations is when people incorrectly use a phrase. In this post a number of common phrase mistakes are corrected.
“I could care less” is wrong. It suggests that you care a little bit. The correct phrase is “I couldn’t care less.”
“For all intensive purposes” is wrong. The correct phrase is “for all intents and purposes,” which means for all practical purposes.
“Nip it in the butt” is wrong. The correct phrase is “nip it in the bud,” which means to put a stop to something before it becomes a serious problem.
“In my personal opinion” is wrong. If it’s your opinion, then it’s personal. “In my opinion” is the correct phrase.
